GB/T23257 "Polyethylene Anti corrosion Coating for Buried Steel Pipelines" is a national standard developed by China for the anti-corrosion coating of buried steel pipelines. It is applicable to the anti-corrosion design, production, and inspection of pipelines transporting oil products, natural gas, and production water for oil and gas fields. This standard replaces the GB/T23257-2009 version, adjusts the temperature definition of the anti-corrosion coating (the design temperature for normal temperature type does not exceed 60 ℃, and for high temperature type does not exceed 80 ℃), and supplements material performance, process evaluation, and inspection requirements.

Anti corrosion layer structure
The standard stipulates that the 3PE anti-corrosion layer is a three-layer composite structure: the bottom layer is an epoxy powder coating (about 100 μ m), the middle layer is an adhesive (170-250 μ m), and the outer layer is polyethylene (2.5-3.7mm). The three-layer material is tightly bonded through hot melt technology, combining the chemical corrosion resistance of epoxy coating with the mechanical protection performance of polyethylene layer. In addition, the 2PE anti-corrosion layer only contains a two-layer structure of adhesive and polyethylene, which is suitable for specific environments.
Material and process requirements
The steel pipe substrate must comply with relevant standards and be inspected for appearance quality one by one. The anti-corrosion coating raw materials (epoxy powder, adhesive, polyethylene) must provide quality certificates and pass testing. Before coating, shot blasting and rust removal are required, and the surface anchor depth should reach 50-75 μ m. Parameters need to be determined through process evaluation tests before production, and re evaluated when materials or pipe diameters change. During the coating process, it is necessary to control the preheating temperature and coating thickness to ensure even adhesion of the anti-corrosion layer.
Quality Inspection and Acceptance
The anti-corrosion coating needs to undergo performance tests such as visual inspection, thickness measurement, adhesion testing (peel strength ≥ 70N/cm), cathodic peeling (≤ 8mm), and bending resistance (no cracks at -30 ℃). The acceptance of inspection batches must meet the requirements of the main control items, such as the thermal properties of epoxy powder and the tensile properties of polyethylene. Radiation cross-linked polyethylene heat shrinkable tape is used for on-site patching, and it needs to pass heat shock resistance and peel strength tests.
